Day #2 - Halloween Fashion Week....

Good Morning All....

Its Day #2 here in the Halloween Fashion Capital and the excitement is really building....

Today we have the march of the "Dresses" and it seems that comfort plays the most important role in a Halloween Dress....

Gone are the days in flying around in a "leather look" and even though some have tried to go more floral or even colourful, it seems that the basic LBD has once again come out on top....

Here we have a gorgeous Halloween creation in your basic black from Kona while hiding a smooth satin lining in dark purple.
Let's face it - who needs a scratchy dress when flying about doing chores....

This creation measures 12" (31cm) and is on the easy Intermediate level.

Grab your FREE for the day pattern right HERE...

Make sure to download the patterns to your computer files because after the sun has come up here over Tshwane, they disappear like mist before the sun....

If you have missed the previous patterns, don't fret, they will all be in my Craftsy shop once Fashion Week is over.

Hope you've also had a bit of quirky fun...

Have a great Day!!

Art with Fabric Day #3

Hello and Welcome to Day #3 of the Art with Fabric blog hop....
Hosted by Alida from Tweety Loves Quilting. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Our theme for this Art Hop was "Earth" and we needed to make something in fabric that would show this theme. We took our inspiration from other artists.

When I thought of what did 'Earth' mean to me I first thought of my Father God who I love and believe that " the earth is His and the fullness thereof..." and how He brought balance and creativity to all things. I love spirals in nature, so I also wanted something with that in it too.

I started thinking of making the symbol for the "Golden Ratio" or the Fibonacci Sequence which is evident in nature and their spirals....

I found an artist Sarah Grubb who had painted this amazing piece called the Golden Ratio and decided I also wanted to make one....

I also decided that I wanted it round like the Earth and it will be a symbol of balance and creativity.
I also found an image where the Golden Ratio was worked out in a circle....yaaay!
Only thing left was to convert it into a paper piecing pattern.

This is my pattern of the "Golden Ratio"

I liked the idea of making each piece with a different fabric but still keeping it in the same colour group.

I sewed the free motion quilting lines with a gold thread and I wanted to keep it really simple, so there is only an outline in each of the quarters following the spiral. The background fabric I chose reminds me of the stars and other galaxies.

The fabric I used for the back has Cats all over it - because this one is a mini quilt for my assistant!!

If you would like a copy of the Golden Ratio pattern (really easy level) you can download it for FREE right here.....

I hope you will enjoy sewing it up....

Our other blogs that are showing their work today are:

What are you working on?

Hello Everyone...

What are you working on? Finishing up?

I have a few projects that need to get finished and some sooner than later....
The Art with Fabric Hop is next week and my turn is Wednesday - so I must get it done .....

I hope you'll be over to check it all out...

For now Im trying to get the "Nurses" EBook finished.

It has 4 sets of 4 patterns (16 blocks) that measure 10" (26cm) each. I have to just do the instructions and combine them into a book.
I think Im only going to sell these patterns as a bundle and not individually.

Eventually all things will be done and I'll let you know when they're going to the shop.

Have a great week-end!!
